The Westport Sustainability Strategy has been released to support a critical phase of the Program, as Westport progresses through definition planning and prepares for future delivery.
This updated strategy provides a framework for how sustainability objectives are embedded in planning and decision-making across all aspects of the Westport Program, including delivery partners.
The Westport Sustainability Strategy is built on three pillars:
- Environmental – deliver positive long-term benefits for the natural and physical environment.
- Social – create opportunities for social advancement.
- Governance – make decisions which benefit Western Australians including strong, transparent governance and reporting.
The Sustainability Strategy is underpinned by Westport’s long-term vision to plan and deliver a world-class container port and supply chain network, built with nature in mind, that unlocks Western Australia’s future economic prosperity.

The Sustainability Action Plan will guide Westport in meeting sustainability commitments and objectives across the three pillars. For example, ensuring Westport’s Net Zero Strategy is implemented to achieve and catalyse a net zero port and local container supply chain by 2050, and implementing initiatives to expand workforce capacity and facilitate workforce diversification in delivery.

The Sustainability Strategy builds on Westport's Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Strategy and applies recognised benchmarks such as the Infrastructure Sustainability Council (ISC) ratings process. It will be reviewed annually as the Program progresses to ensure currency and support continuous improvement.
