Westport is seeking tender submissions for Artificial Reef Design and Deployment Planning
Qualified organisations are invited to submit for the design and planning of artificial reefs as part of investigations into potential marine enhancement opportunities in Cockburn Sound.
At this stage, the tenders are for two types of artificial reefs:
- A recreational fishing reef designed to support fishing opportunities and enhance fish habitat.
- An ecological reef designed to support seagrass establishment and provide habitat for fish and other marine species.
The successful consultant will help develop designs and planning documentation to inform future decision-making and project development.
Submissions can be made via Tenders WA before the deadline 2.30pm AWST, Thursday 3 September 2026.
This is an exciting next step for Westport's Artificial Reef project, following a feasibility study focused on identifying potential reef locations and functions. This included a community survey to help us understand the community’s priorities and ensure this work delivers shared value and benefits.
This work forms part of Westport's broader commitment to understanding and enhancing environmental and community outcomes in the marine environment.
