Vision and goals
Westport's vision is to plan and deliver a world-class container port and supply chain network, built with nature in mind, that unlocks Western Australia’s future economic prosperity.
Westport is one of Western Australia’s most significant infrastructure investments. It represents a once-in-a-century opportunity to design a new port and integrated freight network from the ground up, meeting global best practice for technology, sustainability and efficiency.
Westport has now progressed to Stage 4 – Project Definition and Delivery, following the completion of its Business Case in November 2024. In this stage, the program shifts from high-level planning to detailed design, refining the preferred port and supply chain concept
Sustainability
The Environmental, Social and Governance Strategy was designed to guide our approach during Stage 3. We are now developing a dedicated 2026 Sustainability Strategy which will be central to Westport’s approach in Stage 4. This new strategy will shape planning and decision-making as the Program evolves. It will provide a clear framework for embedding environmental stewardship, social inclusion and strong governance across the Westport Program.
Westport will align carbon reduction targets with Australia’s commitments under the Paris Agreement and the UN Sustainable Development Goals and apply recognised benchmarks such as the Infrastructure Sustainability Council (ISC) ratings process. Progress against sustainability objectives will be tracked through annual reviews and publicly reported to ensure transparency and continuous improvement.
