Westport has partnered with the Western Australian Marine Science Institution (WAMSI) to deliver the $13.5 million WAMSI-Westport Marine Science Program. This 3-year program is developing the latest data, information and modelling on the complex environmental systems and community values associated with Cockburn Sound.

Understanding the significance of Cockburn Sound for recreational fishing 

This project employs a mixed methods approach to evaluate the significance of Cockburn Sound for recreational fishers, examine the potential effects of the proposed port development on recreational fishing experiences, and understand fishers' preferences for initiatives to improve recreational fishing in Cockburn Sound.
