Westport's Noongar Advisory Group is made up of Traditional Owners, Elders and Leaders of local Noongar people elected by Noongar communities.

The Group was formed to ensure Westport was guided appropriately by Noongar people with the authority to provide cultural advice. The Noongar Advisory Group brings together Noongar people from across the Perth Region, including members of Gnarla Karla Booja and Whadjuk Regional Corporations. 

Created in collaboration with our Noongar Advisory Group, Westport's Noongar Opportunities Strategy will guide the program in achieving our vision, enabling opportunities to ensure benefits are maximised for Noongar communities with the development of the port and supply chain infrastructure.

The overarching objectives of the engagement process for Westport are:

• Build and maintain trust between stakeholders and Westport.
• Ensure impacted stakeholders are involved and believe the Westport engagement process is considered, transparent and fair.
• Stakeholder inputs contribute to positive outcomes for their high priority issues.

Westport’s guiding engagement principles are:

• Open: Being clear on engagement and accurate with information that responds to concerns, views and expectations.
• Inclusive: Hearing our stakeholders, acknowledging concerns and engaging in a manner that fosters mutual respect and trust. We want it to be easy to engage with us and recognise stakeholders’ needs will change over time.
• Collaborative: Valuing and acknowledging our stakeholders’ expertise, experience, support, input and time. Actively work across Government to avoid confusion and support a unified voice.
• Respectful: Acknowledging concerns and engaging in a manner that fosters mutual respect and trust.
• Proactive: No surprises by sharing information as early as possible, in many formats to suit different needs.
