This webinar will be recorded and uploaded to our YouTube channel.

  • Webinar topic: Naval Base Horse Beach Online Information Event
  • Date: 20 March
  • Time: 4:30pm-5:30pm
  • Location: Join here (participants can join from 4.20pm on the day).

Naval Base horse beach Community Survey

We're calling for users of the Naval Base horse beach to complete a short survey, to help us better understand how you use the area and other horse beaches across Perth.

This consultation forms part of Westport’s early planning ahead of a government investment decision about how and when container trade will be relocated from Fremantle to Kwinana. Your input will help inform the ongoing planning for Westport.

This is a preliminary survey and further consultation is still to come.

What we've heard so far

To raise awareness about Westport and the upcoming consultation opportunities, the team visited the horse beach in early December. It was great to meet so many people in the equestrian community, we really appreciate you taking the time to talk with us and share your knowledge about the area.

From discussions with horse beach users to date, we have heard:

  • Naval Base horse beach is shallow and protected from strong winds and swell.
  • The length of Naval Base horse beach is equivalent to Ascot, Belmont and regional racecourses.
  • Other horse beaches have time restrictions for horse exercise.
  • The carpark at Naval Base is big enough to turn around large horse floats, and has areas for overflow carparking during busier months.
