Port Precinct

The Port Precinct refers to the area of land that will support the proposed port facilities in Kwinana. It includes Westport’s future road and rail connections and other functions associated with the port.

Future Port Precinct

In addition to the new container port, access channels and breakwater, Westport is planning other infrastructure that will support the port when operational. Sites are being identified for the future road and rail network, plus other functions associated with the port including container storage areas and truck marshalling, and regulatory processes such as quarantine and border force.

Land Acquisition

Westport is engaging with landowners and businesses who may be directly or indirectly impacted by the future development of Westport.

Westport is progressing the voluntary acquisition of directly impacted land parcels.

Planning Control Areas

In order to avoid new development occurring that is inconsistent with planning for the future port, a Planning Control Area has been established to control the development of land likely to be required for the new port and supporting infrastructure.

The Minister for Planning approved PCA 181 on 9 July 2024. Details and maps of the PCAs can be viewed here.

For further information about PCAs please contact the Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage via info@dplh.wa.gov.au or 6551 8002.
