In November 2021 Westport held an Aboriginal consultation workshop, led by Dr Richard Walley.
100 representatives from the Whadjuk and Gnaala Karla Booja Peoples shared their aspirations for the port and discussed the significant economic opportunities for Noongar Peoples, if it’s done right.
From this workshop, ten community leaders were elected to form the Westport Noongar Advisory Group which provides strategic advice to Westport.
In 2022 the group will develop an Aboriginal opportunity strategy to set a clear direction and focus for the outcomes we want to achieve over the next three years and beyond.
